Special note of interest: The entire bongo part is completely notated. Bob came in and nailed it in short order. I was impressed.

Gordy - drums; piano by our old friend General Middy (gotta love the General); yodeling stolen from some web site (where it was uncredited)  and digitally edited to protect the innocent.

A quick word about General Middy. It takes some time to record 50 tunes, and I am dependent on the generosity of the Guys in the band. THANK YOU GUYS!
Some of the Middy tracks are fine for the web site. The CDs (three of them coming) will have real stuff. "Hi Hunter!"

THE BLUE DOWN UNDER (Jellyfish)  (2003).  Real guitars played by Robert Jacobson and Sean Heim. Real keyboard by Hunter Ochs; steel drum and waterphone by Arthur Jarvinen; didgerdon't by the General.

Thanks to Chas Smith for the waterphone he made and generously bestowed on me. It is the best in its class.

BITE THE WALL, MOJO STANG!  (1983)  This was written for The Mope, a band I co-led in the early 80s. It was recorded on 8-track, mixed to 2-track, and dubbed to cassette. I don't have any analog machines anymore, so I had to copy this from the cassette. The players would be Miroslav Tadic - guitar; Toby Holmes - bass; Arthur Jarvinen - drums and marimba.

By the way, I played in a blues band with Miroslav, for which he penned an instrumental called Mojo Stang. That's where I stole the name for my villain. Also, the words "bite the wall" came from a former sweetheart who used to say, when particularly horny, that she was "ready to bite the wall". A colorful phrase, I thought.

THE PHANTOM SURFER'S GREAT ESCAPE (2002)  One of my very first surf tunes. This recording is sort of a demo version, because I haven't gotten around to mixing all the tracks yet. It's actually me on drums, but the weird thing is that I had to record every part of the kit separately. I kid you not - snare alone, kick alone, each tom tom alone, etc. It should NOT have worked, but I think it's pretty convincing. I'm also on bass and guitar. We'll use Sean's lead on the CD. I think this is Rob on 12 string, and Hunter on Rhodes.

BEACH PARTY WITH LOLA  (2003)  Sean Heim - lead guitar; Robert Jacobson - 12 string guitar; Arthur Jarvinen - baritone guitar, vocals; Hunter Ochs - electric piano; M.B. Gordy - drums

MOJO SURFS THE VOODOO DOWN (2005)  This one's a little different. It was recorded live at Kulak's Woodshed, in North Hollywood. There's more to the composition, but it is basically a jam tune, and eveyone took a solo. For this episode I cut it down to just the basic tune and two of the solos. You get to hear a real live Hunter Ochs (as opposed to General Middy) playing the Casio VL-Tone and electric piano, followed by me on simantron, as well as vocals and baritone guitar. Sean Helim and Robert Jacobson are on guitars, with M.B. Gordy on drums.

PLASTICVILLE (2004)  Arthur Jarvinen - vocals; M.B. Gordy - drums. Guitars and Keys are General Middy until we can find some time to record.

BRA-ZILLA 666 (2004) Robert Jacobson - rhythm guitar; M.B. Gordy - drums; everything else is MIDI, temporarily.

THE NANCY (2005)  Mat Gurman - guitars; Hunter Ochs - electric piano; Arthur Jarvinen - bass; M.B. Gordy - drums

HODAD STRUT (2005)  Hunter Ochs - keyboards and solos; Robert Jacobson - rhythm guitar; Arthur Jarvinen - guitar, chromatic harmonica, guiro; M.B. Gordy - drums.
